Tumor melánico o pigmentado. El melanoma es una proliferación neoplásica maligna de melanocitos, que casi siempre se origina a partir de los melanocitos de la unión dermoepidérmica. Mucho más raro es el origen de un melanoma a partir del componente intradérmico de un nevo melanocítico preexistente.
<(A.): Melanom: das maligne Melanom auch Melano(zyto)blastom oder schwarzer Hautkrebs genannt, ist ein hochgradig bösartiger Tumor der Pigmentzellen (Melanozyten).
<(F.): Mélanome: tumeur maligne, pigmentée ou non, constituée d'une prolifération de cellules mélaniques. Les proliférations mélaniques bénignes sont des nævus nævo-cellulaires. Le terme de «mélanome» pour une tumeur nævique bénigne est à proscrire (par exemple, préférer nævus de Spitz à mélanome de Spitz ou mélanome juvénile).
