Stapes: es el más pequeño de los huesecillos del oído medio y el más importante fisiológicamente. Está situado en el atrium del oído medio, justo debajo del acueducto de Falopio, entre la apófisis lenticular del yunque y la ventana oval. Consta de cabeza, dos ramas y platina. <(A): Steigbügel, Estapidius: ein bügelförmiger Knochen im Mittelohr. Der Steigbügel überträgt die Schallschwingungen vom Amboss, einem weiteren kleinen Knochen im Mittelohr, auf das ovale Fenster neben dem Innenohr. Der Steigbügel ist der kleinste Knochen im Körper.
<(F): Étrier, stapes: est le troisième de la chaîne des trois osselets suspendus dans l'oreille moyenne grâce à des ligaments. Il est en contact avec l'enclume. L'articulation entre enclume et étrier se dit incudo-stapédienne.
<(Ing): Stapes, estapedius: a stirrup-shaped bone in the middle ear. The stapes transmits sound vibrations from the incus, another little bone in the middle ear, to the oval window adjacent to the inner ear. The stapes is the smallest bone in the body.
