Es una fobia que se caracteriza por el horror a permanecer encerrado. Las personas con claustrofobia evitan los elevadores, los trenes, los aviones y todos los espacios cerrados en general.
<(A.): Klaustrophobie: eine spezifische „isolierte“ Angststörung, die äußert sich bei Betroffenen als Angst vor dem (selbst wenn nur gefühlten) Eingesperrtsein, oder vor der bloßen Präsenz in engen/abgeschlossenen Räumen. In Extremfällen kann dabei schon eine geschlossene Tür zur Panikattacke führen.

One study indicates that anywhere from 5–7% of the world population is affected by severe claustrophobia, but only a small percentage of these people receive some kind of treatment for the disorder.
