Medicamento o sustancia que favorece la expulsión de los gases del tubo digestivo y con ello disminuyen las flatulencias y cólicos. El efecto se refiere a un efecto antiespasmódico en los músculos estomacales lisos y a un efecto de disminución de la fermentación en la flora intestinal.
<(A.): Karminativum: mittel gegen Blähungen. Karminativ wirksam sind vor allem Arzneidrogen mit ätherischen Ölen, z. B. Anis, Fenchel, Kümmel, Koriander, Pfefferminzblätter, Kamillenblüten etc. Die Wirkung beruht auf einem spasmolytischen Effekt auf die glatte Darmmuskulatur und auf einem gärungshemmenden Effekt auf die Darmflora.

Carminatives have been shown to decrease lower esophageal pressure, which on the other hand increases the risk of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or ‘heartburn’.
