Proceso fisiológico que consiste en la formación de vasos sanguíneos nuevos a partir de los vasos preexistentes. La angiogénesis es un fenómeno normal durante el desarrollo embrionario, el crecimiento del organismo y en la cicatrización de las heridas. Sin embargo también es un proceso fundamental en la transformación maligna del crecimiento tumoral.
