<(A.): Atemstillstand: als Atemstillstand oder Apnoe ([aˈpnoːə], aus griechisch ápnoia ἄπνοια ‚Nicht-Atmung‘, zu pnoé πνοή ‚Atmung‘, ‚Atemzug‘) wird ein mehr oder weniger langes Aussetzen der äußeren Atmung bezeichnet. Ebenso wird das wntliche Anhalten der Atmung als Atemstillstand bzw. Apnoe bezeichnet (siehe Apnoetauchen).
