Nervi tensoris tympanii: el nervio maxilar inferior posee dos tronco terminales, anterior y posterior. El tronco terminal posterior se divide en cuatro ramas una de las cuales es el tronco común de los nervios del pterigoideo interno, del periestafilino externo y del músculo del martillo. Este atraviesa la zona cribosa de la aponeurosis interpterigoidea para alcanzar el músculo.

   Sinónimos: nervio del músculo tensor tímpano.
