Inflamación por infección, rápidamente progresiva, de los tejidos blandos que causa la necrosis de una fascia y del tejido subcutáneo.

   Sinónimos: fascitis gangrenosa.

   <(F): Fasciite nécrosante, fasciite gangréneuse, érysipèle nécrotique, gangrène hospitalière, gangrène dermique aiguë, cellulite streptococcique maligne, cellulite fulminante: iInfection, due en général à une association bactérienne streptocoque-anaérobies, des fascias hypodermiques. Elle entraîne une nécrose avec odème d'évolution très rapide, aboutissant à de vastes placards hémorragiques et bulleux et s'accompagne d'un état de choc.Son pronostic est sévère.

A number of bacteria in isolation or as a polymicrobial infection can cause necrotizing fasciitis. The organisms most closely linked to necrotizing fasciitis are group A beta-hemolytic streptococci, although the disease may also be caused by other bacteria or different streptococcal serotypes.
