Neoplasia precancerosa de la piel de crecimiento lento que termina formando un carcinoma de piel de células escamosas in situ.

   Sinónimos: carcinoma de Bowen; carcinoma espinocelular intraepidérmico.

   <(F): Maladie de Bowen: est un type rare de cancer intraépidermique (cancer de la peau) qui peut apparaêtre en de nombreux endroits de l'organisme et se caractérise par la présence de placards cutanés rouges et plats. La maladie est rebelle à la chimiothérapie et à la radiothérapie. En cas de maladie de Bowen, le risque de cancer du poumon, du rein ou du gros intestin est plus élevé.

   <(Ing): Bowen disease, Bowen´s disease: is medically the same as "squamous cell carcinoma in situ." Squamous cell carcinoma is a tumor that develops from the squamous cells which are flat, scale-like cells in the outer layer of the skin (the epithelium). The term "in situ" (borrowed from the Romans) means "in the natural or normal place" and, in the case of cancer, it says that the tumor cells are still confined to the site where they originated and they have neither invaded neighboring tissues nor metastasized afar.
