 Processus anterior, processus gracilis: se desprende de la cara anterior del cuello. Su dirección apunta hacia la cisura de Glaser (cisura timpanoescamosa). En el lactante es tan solo una lámina ósea unida por sinóstosis a la pared anterior a nivel de la cisura de Glaser, luego se reabsorbe parcialmente durante el primer año. En el adulto es muy fina, curvilínea o sinuosa, prolongándose con el ligamento anterior del martillo que se inserta en su base y la recubre.
Sinónimos: apófisis larga, apófisis de Raw. <(F.): Apophyse antérieure du marteau, apophyse longue, apophyse gréle, apophyse de Raw: est fine, curviligne ou sinueuse, se dirige vers la scissure de Glaser, prolongée par le ligament antérieur du marteau qui s´insère a la base de l´apophyse et l´engaine. <(In.): Anterior process of malleus: is a delicate spicule, which springs from the eminence below the neck and is directed forward to the petrotympanic fissure, to which it is connected by ligamentous fibers.
