ARTERIA TEMPORAL PROFUNDA POSTERIOR

 
   Art. temporalis profunda posterior: rama colateral de la maxilar interna. Asciende por la cara externa del pterigoideo externo y se ramifica por la parte posterior del músculo temporal.
   Sinónimos: arteria temporal profunda caudal.
 
   <(F): Artère temporal profond postérieure: elle nait très souvent d'un tronc commun avec la dentaire, tronc temporo-dentaire, ou directement de la maxillaire interne près de son origine; dans ce dernier cas, elle fournit d'ordinaire la massétérine. Le tronc temporo-dentaire, long de quelques millimètres, naît au niveau de la face interne du ptérygoïdien externe, descend obliquement en avant, en dehors des nerfs lingual et dentaire inférieur, contourne le bord inférieur du muscle et se divise immédiatement en une branche inférieure, qui continue le trajet primitif (l'artère dentaire inférieure) et une branche supérieure qui se recourbe brusquement autour du bord inférieur du muscle; c'est la temporale profonde postérieure. La temporale profonde postérieure monte verticalement sur la face externe du ptérygoïdien, en avant et en dedans du nerf massétérin, et atteint la crête du sphénoïde. Là, elle se divise presque aussitôt en deux branches qui rampent sur le périoste, sous la face profonde du muscle temporal, et s'anastomosent avec la temporale profonde antérieure et la temporale moyenne.

There it divides almost immediately into two branches that crawl on the periosteum under the deep surface of the temporal muscle, and anastomose with the anterior deep temporal and temporal average.
